What makes a Living Room?

We say it is the Sofa! Scouting for a perfect one to suit the space, look, and feel of your living room is the toughest, because it requires a huge commitment from your side. It should be plush, comfortable, and soft on the bum AND you have to love it for years to come. Looking at my mom’s sofa history (3 in 10 years), I know it always helps to go the classic route with clean classic lines in a neutral color for a longer commitment.

With a lot of online sources available now, I thought I will do a round-up of the styles that will work for years to come. You can always take inspiration and get it recreated by a local carpenter but remember that it is better to pay for good quality, as this is an over-used product. Here are my personal favorites.

1)  This one here is called Apollo and is available in Pearl (Off-white), Steel (Dark Grey), Mocha (Brown), Cobalt (Blue), Mist (Seems like an Ivory color) and Dune (Beige) colors. You can order it online at Urban Ladder

I love its simple design and clean lines. The best part, you can accessorize it with the brightest and boldest cushions or play subtle with tonal ones – whatever you feel like!!

2)  Next up is Mr. Ulysses – love the names these people come up with. It is also available in a variety of colors and can be bought at Urban Ladder.
I love how the edges are slightly curved and given a choice between Apollo and this one here, I would go for Ulysses.

3) Coming up next is a Grey beauty with curved handles. I love the piping detail added in this - helps to elevate the look of the sofa so much. It is available online at Pepperfry. There are few festive offers going on currently, grab 'em :).

4) Hold your breath because what comes up next will simply blow you away. It’s love at first sight for me. I simply adore the plush design and the simplistic yet elegant look of this beauty. It is available online at Pepperfry. Here’s the looker –

    5) What comes up next is the King of Sofas, cue drum-roll, Mr. Sectional. If space permits, I think you should always go for a sectional. It helps you to create a mix and match story in your living room furniture. You can pair a neutral color sectional with a bold printed winged back chair or play mix media and add a pair of plexi glass chairs (they are such a rage right now!!).  You can buy the dude below at Urban Ladder

6) How about I end the round-up totally contradicting what I said? Coming up next is a sofa in a NON-NEUTRAL and wait-for-it Tangerine color. The color is so perky and totally calls out my name. I know it will take a leap of faith to purchase this one and a steady mind to be committed to it but what the heck, life is short (Shopaholic alert!). So, if you can plan a décor around this beauty then you buy it with a click at Pepperfry
